Durst Takes Two Floors in Bank of America Tower
Family Run Owner/Builder/Manager to Occupy 48th and 49th Floors of World’s Most Environmentally Advanced Skyscraper
Co-presidents Douglas and Jonathan Durst today announced that The Durst Organization has signed a 20-year lease for 66,000 square feet, the entire 48th and 49th floors, of the Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park. The Durst Organization will move from their current headquarters at 1155 Sixth Avenue, which they have occupied since 1995. Historically, The Durst Organization has often occupied its newest building. From 1948 to 1956 The Durst Organization was headquartered at 205 East 42nd Street, from 1956 to 1968 the offices were at 655 Third Avenue and from 1968 until 1995 the offices were at 1133 Avenue of the Americas.
“The Bank of America Tower will be most environmentally and worker friendly office building in the world,” said Douglas Durst. “What better group of employees than our own should benefit from this highly productive and efficient work space? We look forward to joining the Bank of America and our other tenants in our beautiful new home.”
“This much needed expansion of our central office will allow us to better serve our tenants and partners,” said Jonathan Durst. “Our new offices will take advantage of the sustainable and high-performance features of One Bryant Park and we will seek an interior design that equals the workplace and environmental innovations in the base building.”
The Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park is a joint venture of Bank of America and The Durst Organization. Designed by Cook + Fox Architects, Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park will be New York’s most environmentally advanced office tower. Its graceful tower will pierce Manhattan’s skyline and its 51 stories will house 2.1 million square feet of office space. Bank of America will occupy 37 floors at the building, law firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP have taken six floors in the building’s tower and the clothing designer Elie Tahari LTD has leased the 50th floor. The Durst Organization and Bank of America are seeking a “Platinum Designation” from the U.S. Green Building’s Council for the building.
