As Chief Development Officer of The Durst Organization, Alexander oversees acquisition, design, and construction of new projects, with a special focus on development, management, and financial analysis. He also oversees management of The Durst Organization’s $80 million public and private equity investment portfolio.
Working closely with the Durst Executive Team, Alexander has helped direct the financing, construction and entitlement of VIA 57 WEST, a 709-unit residential rental building, as well as EŌS, a 500,000-square foot mixed-use project that includes retail, commercial space, and rental apartments. He has also supervised the recent acquisition of $425 million development parcels including the Halletts Point Development in Astoria, The Piers at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia, 1800 Park Avenue in Manhattan, and Queens Plaza Park in Long Island City.
Alexander began his career at The Durst Organization in 2005 working in building operations, and then moved on to manage the company’s portfolio of residential properties. In 2012, he oversaw the restoration of seven buildings that were severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy on Front Street in Lower Manhattan.
Alexander holds a Bachelor of Arts from Colorado College and a Master of Science in Geology and Earth Sciences from Montana State University. Alexander is a board member of the City Parks Foundation, an advisory board member for the New York State Board of The Trust for Public Land, and a Commissioner of the New York City Region of New York State Parks.
