JOSEPH GUCCIONE - Vice President of Security & Life Safety

Joseph (Joe) Guccione is the Vice President of Security & Life Safety at The Durst Organization where he oversees all aspects of security safeguards and life safety protocols for the Durst portfolio. His team manages corporate investigations and executive protection, as well as all fire, life safety, and crisis response initiatives. The department consists of over 400 Security and Fire & Life Safety professionals.

Joe is the former United States Marshal for the Southern District of New York, and prior to joining The Durst Organization he was the Managing Director in the New York office of Freeh Group International Solutions (now AlixPartners).

Joe was appointed Unites States Marshal in 2002 by President George W. Bush and was one of the longest-serving Marshals in the 226-year history of the Service’s Southern District. During his two decades of service with the United States Marshals, Joe supervised 350 criminal investigators and Court Security Officers and directed all investigative, protective, and administrative activities for the Southern District of New York. Joe has presided over multiple task forces involving federal, state, and local law enforcement, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation; United States Secret Service; Drug Enforcement Administration; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms; and the New York Police Department, among others.

Joe currently serves as Vice-Chair of the U.S. Department of State’s Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) Europe Regional Committee and on the U.S. Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel for the Southern District of New York. He is also an active member of the International Association Chiefs of Police (IACP).
